What is hair growth cycle?

- Three distinct phases are observed in the hair growth cycle. 85% to 95% of hair is in the active growth or anagen phase (lasts several years), the remaining 5-15% is in the catagen (transition phase, when hair no longer grows - this phase lasts several weeks) or the telogen phase ( lasts from several weeks to several months). At the end of the telogen phase, the hair always falls out and is replaced by a new one. There are an average of 100,000 follicles in the scalp (people with blond hair have the most follicles, people with red hair - the least), and their number does not change during life. This means that new hair always replaces the hair that has fallen out.

What causes hair loss and thinning?
